Burnt out Apple Charger
Apple have launched a charger trade in program following reports of a women in China being electrocuted while using her iPhone while it was charging.
Concerns that more electrocutions might follow caused by unsanctioned chargers for Apple gadgets being used prompted the company to create the trade-in scheme.
As of the 16th of April, people who have purchased counterfeit or third-party chargers for Apple products will be able to exchange them for the certified Apple models, at the price of $US10.
While Apple acknowledges that not all counterfeit or third party chargers are dangerous, some that have not been properly designed can pose a serious safety hazard and people who are concerned about their own chargers should participate in the trade-in program.
In order to participate in the scheme consumers must bring in to an Apple store or authorised Apple service provider their old chargers and the device(s) they use the charger for.
Serial numbers on devices will need to be verified for the trade-in program which will run until the 18th of October.
Apple’s upcoming iPhone offering is said to have a major security enhancement, utilising the latest fingerprint scanner technology.
The latest operating system, iOS7 beta 4 was released last week and there’s definitely more than a hint of the new fingerprint technology being an important feature in Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5S.
Recently Apple acquired AuthenTec which is a company that specialises in fingerprint-scanning technology. They bought the company for $A392 million last July, which started the rumors last year about the new security advancement being used in their latest smartphone offering.
To fuel speculation ever more, only a few weeks ago Apple also decided to file a patent for a fingerprint sensor embedded within the touchscreen display.
It’s likely that the new technology, embedded in the home button or inside the touch screen will allow for greater security when locking and unlocking the smartphone.
It’s not only security that could benefit from fingerprint sensoring either. There’s also the possibility that you could do different functions on your phone simply by using different fingers.
This video will show you the Unboxing the 3rd Generation Apple TV.
Apple TV allows you to stream movies and TV shows that are available online in the iTunes Store to your HDTV. All the movies in iTunes are on a rental or purchase basis, and all your purchases are then stored in the iCloud. Apple TV also streams a few other online media services such as Netflix, Hulu Plus, MLB.TV.
You can stream Music, videos and photos from iOS devices using AirPlay.
The Apple TV box has not changed since the second generation, the hardware inside has been upgraded from A4 chipset to the A5 Chipset. This upgrade allows streaming video at a higher resolution 1080p as apposed to 720p.
The Apple TV’s design is seen as the best around. Its a simple small black box and has a small white light at the front when the device is turned on. On the back of the box it has the following ports.
* Power cord
* HDMI
* Optical Audio
* Network
* Wifi 802.11n – There is not port for it have ever it is built in.
The unit doesn’t come with an HDMI cable so make sure you buy one other wise you will be in for a rude shock when you go to plug this unit in.
The Apple TV also comes with a small brushed aluminium remote that has only 4 buttons. A navigation circle at the top, which you can press to move up and down and left to right, a Menu button which works as a Back button, and a Play Pause button.
If you download the Apple remote control app you can control the Apple TV with your iPhone or iPad.
Over all the Apple TV seems to be a solid streaming device and if you have other iDevices like iPhone and iPod its probably worth looking into it. However the lack of a USB port for me is disappointing as it means you cannot plug an external USB hard drive directly into the device.
This video will show you How to Create an iCloud Account on an iPhone, iPad or iPod.
Hi All
So I wanted to do a tutorial on how to find a lost iPhone, however to do this you first of all need an iCloud account.
First port of call needs to be how to setup an iCloud account on an iOS device.
What is this iCloud I speak of? Well it is a backup service that allows you to save all your music photos and files to Apple’s servers and sync those files to all of your devices via the internet. This is what they call cloud computing and in Apple terms iCloud.
Step 1. Make sure you update your iPhone, iPad or iPod. You can do this in Settings, General, Software Update.
Step 2. Turn on iCloud. When you get a brand new iOS device, at the very start when you are setting up the device it asks you do you want to Set Up iCloud. There is a skip button which will allow you to skip this part. If so you will need to setup iCloud by going into the Settings icon on the Home screen, select iCloud and you will be prompted for your Apple ID. This is the same ID you use for iTunes. Otherwise you can just log into iCloud and use your Apple ID.
Step 3. Once you are logged into iCloud your can Customise your settings. Tap the Settings icon and go into iCloud and then you can toggle on and off any services you want or don’t want to sync with iCloud.
Step 4. If you want to you can turn on Mail and get a free iCloud email account. Its apparently ad-free. However its just another option. Pretty sure most users out there already have a free email account and don’t need ANOTHER email account haha.
Step 5. Setup your iCloud to automatic download your music, apps and books. To do this go into Settings and select iTunes & Apps Stores. Toggle on your music, apps and books.
Step 6. Turn iCloud on all of your other devices so you can get access to your files anywhere.
Stay tuned for the next video will with show you how to find your iPhone when it goes missing.

Other wise you can read the steps below.
Step 1. Open up iTunes and login with your Apple ID and password. If you don’t have an iTunes account you can click on the Create Apple ID button to set one up.
Step 2. Once you are logged into iTunes, click on your Apple ID and select Redeem. This will then forward you to the Apple Redeem Gift screen
Step 3. Scratch the security sticker off the back of your card and enter the code into the code field and your done.
